Tags

The cold and dry air during the winter can remove the moisture from your skin, leaving it dry and flaky, starving for nourishment. But, besides the dry winds, there are other factors that are making your skin dry, like aging, vitamin deficiency, and even genetics.

You may try to improve your skin by using different creams and lotions, but many of them contain harmful chemicals, and are not that inexpensive.

Luckily, you can return the natural softness of your skin with the help of the following home treatments, all of which require natural, effective, and cheap ingredients.

Here are the 5 best homemade remedies to treat your dry skin:

1. MILK

The anti-inflammatory properties of milk can soothe dry and itchy skin. It also contains lactic acid which increases the skin’s ability to retain moisture, while removing any dead skin cells.

To do this treatment you need cold milk and a washcloth. Soak the washcloth in the milk and place it on your skin. Let it stay for 5-7 minutes, and then wash it off with the help of another cloth soaked in warm water.

2. AVOCADO MASK

Puree half an avocado to make a mask perfect for your dry skin. If your skin is really dry, add a tablespoon of honey or a teaspoon of olive oil. Apply the mask on your face evenly, and leave it there for 15-20 minutes. After that, just rinse your face with clean water. For even better results, apply a moisturizer after the avocado mask treatment.

3. COCONUT OIL

This oil is known to provide wide range of health benefits, including treating a dry skin. It nourishes the skin thanks to its high fatty acid content. All you have to do warm some coconut oil and apply it all over your skin before going to bed. The next morning take a shower, and to keep your skin well nourished, apply coconut oil once again.

4. OATMEAL SOAK

Oatmeal can minimize the dryness of your skin due to its ability to retain moisture. It also has soothing properties, which makes it a great natural treatment for dry skin. Soak in a warm bath and an added cup of oatmeal for several minutes, to allow your skin absorb the oatmeal’s effects.

5. ALOE VERA

We can’t omit Aloe Vera when it comes to treating and soothing dry skin, as this plant possesses anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and anti-fungal properties. Scrape the gel away from Aloe Vera leaves, and apply directly on your dry skin.

Leave it there for 10-15 minutes, and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Repeat twice a day to reduce the dryness of your skin, and bring back its natural moisture.

As we said, all of these remedies are natural so they are free from chemicals. Try them out and see which one suits you best.
